Georgianna Catherine Morley, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, at the age of 92, surrounded by her devoted family.
Born on October 24, 1932, in Laurel, Maryland, Georgianna led a life marked by humility, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family, community, and church. Her gentle spirit and quiet strength touched all who knew her.
Georgianna earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland on June 6, 1954. Just days later, on June 14, she married the love of her life, Charles Bruce Morley. Their marriage spanned 51 wonderful years. As Bruce pursued his veterinary degree, Georgianna worked tirelessly to support their young family.
A lifelong volunteer, Georgianna gave generously of her time and talents. She tutored students through the St. Mary’s Elementary School reading program, served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, participated in the Citizens Advisory Committee for Parks and Recreation, and was actively involved with the St. Mary’s of the Mills Ladies of Charity and Quilting Group. Her passion for helping others was matched only by her creativity—she was a gifted crafter, particularly skilled in sewing, quilting, knitting, and crocheting.
Above all, Georgianna’s greatest legacy is the love, strength, and kindness she instilled in her family and everyone blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Anna Barkman; her beloved husband, Charles Bruce Morley; her son, Dale; and her daughter, Lynn.
She is survived by her children: Leah Andrews, Karen Jacobs and her husband Steve, and Kevin Morley and his wife Melissa; her grandchildren: Jason Schiller and his wife Brandy, Michelle Grisso and her husband Mike, Jessie Cole and her husband Adam, Jared Hurd, Nicole Leith and her husband Adam, Curtis Morley, Tracy Smith and her husband Spencer, Collin Morley, Nathan Morley, Cavan Morley, and Michael Morley; 11 great-grandchildren; and her brothers: Lawrence Barkman, and Charles Barkman and his wife Linda.
Georgianna’s warmth, grace, and faith-filled life will be remembered always. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she loved so deeply.
