On January 31, 2016, Gerald (Jerry) C. Drechsler, Sr. passed away peacefully in his sleep. Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife Deborah (Lonaberger) for over 27 years. He graduated from Bishop McNamara in June of 1967 and served in the U.S. Navy and spent time aboard the USS Vulcan. He worked at various locations up until the time he began working for the Department of Defense at the Washington Navy Yard as both a Licensed Boiler & Elevator Inspector. He received a certificate of appreciation as a Founding Member of the Royal GTO’s (1982-2002) and was later recognized for his contribution to the Royal GTO’s of Maryland (1982-2012). He was also a member of the American Legion. He loved working on cars as well as making home improvements. He is the beloved father of Holly (Jonas) Monroe, Wendy Drechsler, and Paul, David (Jennifer), and Gerald C. Drechsler, Jr. He adored his grandchildren Mark, Madison & Alexander (AJ). He is also survived by his brothers George, Bob, and Richard Drechsler and his sister Jane Drechsler. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Hildagarde (Engels) and his siblings Albert, Carl, Elsie, Tom, and Mary Louise.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Pa. 313 Talbott Avenue Laurel, Maryland 20707 on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm where a funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday at 11 am.
