Glen Wilson Putnam

Glen Wilson Putnam, age 64 of Laurel, Maryland passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, in Hagerstown, Maryland after a long health battle. Born on July 15, 1961, in Athol, Massachusetts.

Glen’s career was marked by a genuine love for his work in the mortgage industry. He often remarked that he never needed an alarm clock because waking up to go to work was a joy in itself. This deep-seated enthusiasm was a reflection of his strong-willed and determined nature—a man who was often described as stubborn and hard-headed, yet those very traits ultimately paved the way for his work success and the respect he earned throughout his profession. 

Outside of his career, Glen found great happiness in simple pleasures. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, savoring a good Bloody Mary and was remarkably talented in knitting and crocheting. His skills brought warmth not only through the many handmade gifts he crafted for family and friends but also through the joy of teaching his daughter how to crochet—a cherished bond they shared.

Family was the cornerstone of Glen’s pride and joy. Above all else, he considered his greatest accomplishments to be his two daughters, Briona (Pete) Bielanski and Joanna (Warren) Higgs. He took immense pride in their success, their roles as nurturing mothers, and their well-established lives. He loved to brag that one of his daughters was a Mortician Funeral Director. He was also a loving grandfather to his three grandchildren: James, Landon, and Cheyanne. Glen is also survived by his two brothers, Clayton (Cindy) Putnam and Stephen (Martha) Putnam, along with many extended family members who will continue to hold him in their hearts.

Glen was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judye Warsaw Putnam; his brother, Robert Putnam; and his parents, Paul and Cynthia Putnam. 

In the end we were thankful to 'those' traits that arguably helped to prolong his life, helping him through his health battle with congestive heart failure and receiving a heart transplant. He would joke, "I'm a Putnam, we're tough!". 

Glen’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and a passion for both his craft and his family. He leaves behind a legacy marked by strength, kindness, and the enduring bonds made with those fortunate enough to know him. His memory will be honored and cherished by all who loved him. 

A graveside celebration of Glen’s life will be held for the family when his ashes are interred in the North Newport Cemetery, Newport, New Hampshire.
