Glenda Kearns Pierce

Glenda Kearns Pierce, age 81, passed away on January 7, 2015 at her residence in Laurel, MD.

Born October 8, 1933 in Martinsburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late Bernard L Kearns and the late Mary R. (nee Eversole) Kearns.  Glenda was born and raised in Martinsburg, WV and moved to the Laurel area in 1951.  Glenda completed her nursing degree at the Martinsburg City Hospital, receiving the highest grades given up to that point.  Glenda worked as a Registered Nurse for Doctor Wingfield and then for the old Laurel Sanitarium before moving to the Paint Branch Nursing Home.  She eventually retired as the administrator of the nursing home.

Glenda was married to the late James Wayne Pierce in 1953 and was married for 55 years before James passed away in 2008.  She is survived by three sons; Bernie Pierce and his wife, Anita of Laurel, MD, Charlie Pierce and his wife, Donna of Westminster, MD and Art Pierce and his life partner, Michael Miller both of Martinsburg, WV.  She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  Along with her parents and husband, Glenda was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Lee Pierce.
