Grady Lee Jones

Grady Lee Jones , (91 years) of Silver Spring, Maryland passed away quietly at his daughter's home on Friday, February 27, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth "Betty" Jones who passed away on June 2, 2011. Grady and Betty were married for 69 years.   Beloved father of a daughter, Betty Carolyn Soper and her husband David and son, Leon Jones and his wife Judith, both from Silver Spring, Maryland. Beloved grandfather to five grandchildren and great-grandfather to eleven great grandchildren.

He was born to Cora Jones and Lester E. Jones of Clifton, N. C. September 6, 1923.

Surviving him are his brother, Dillard Jones of Clifton, N. C., and three sisters, Lois Pennington and Jewel Wyatt, both from Clifton, N. C. and Eula Mae Greer of New Castle, Delaware. He was predeceased in death by his two sisters, Hester Eller and Ethel Eller both from Clifton, North Carolina and a brother, Grant Jones also from Clifton, North Carolina

He was originally from Clifton, North Carolina and came to Maryland in 1952. He took a course at home to learn carpentry.  He was an exceptional carpenter contractor and built homes in Hillandale, Colesville, Rockville, and Potomac in Maryland until he retired.  He loved gardening and Bluegrass Music.

Visitation will be at Donaldson Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and again from 7:00pm - 9:00pm.   Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ashton Baptist Church 17826 New Hampshire Avenue, Ashton, Md. at 11:00am.  Interment service with Military Honors by the Maryland National Guard will be at George Washington Cemetery 9500 Riggs Road, Adelphi, Maryland.
