Gregory Lee Barger

Gregory Lee Barger, a skilled carpenter and retired construction superintendent, died unexpectedly at his home in Clarksville, Maryland on June 9, 2024.

Greg was born in Cumberland, Maryland on August 14, 1952.  After graduation, began working with his father in landscaping and later moved in to the construction. In July of 1977 he met is forever love and soulmate, Barbara Ann (n. Souders), married on  September 16, 1978, and then welcomed three beautiful children.

Throughout his life, Gregory enjoyed hunting & fishing- especially on their land in West Virginia for their yearly Thanksgiving hunting trips, old-school country music, dancing, spending time at their beach house in Fenwick Island, DE, as well as many trips spent in Avon, NC and other travels.

Greg spent 30+ years working as a superintendent for high-end custom home projects, while consecutively venturing into owning his own skilled carpentry company, GLB Construction, which he operated together with his son Justin and beloved wife, Barbara. He was a true craftsman; but his first priority was always his family and loved ones.

Greg is survived by his wife, Barbara Barger (nee Souders); his children Justin Michael (wife, Jennifer Allen-Barger), Tricia Marie (partner, Michael Homann) and Laura Michelle (husband, Ferrari Mclean), brother Jim (wife Cathy), sister Cathy, sister in laws Jean and Liz and was Pop-pop to Emma Leigh, Ava Alexis, Nathaniel Lee, Giuliana Lynn, Scarlett Michelle and Olivia Faith and Uncle to many nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his parents Golden “Joby”  and Patricia (n Morris) Barger and his brothers Steve and Dave Barger.

His infectious laugh & smile, smooth dance moves, hilarious stories, vast knowledge and his ability to make everyone instantly feel welcome & comfortable will be missed deeply by his entire extended family, many friends & countless loved ones. While we’re devastated, we are grateful in knowing he is in a better place, and find comfort that Greg is at peace.
