Gwendoline was born in Cheltenham, England and served in the Woman's Land Army during WWII. She met her husband Keefer during the war and married him on November 11, 1944 and came to America as a war bride on the Queen Mary Ship with her oldest son Lester in 1945.
Gwen had many talents such as playing the Piano, making ceramics and crocheting.
She worked at Boulevard Cleaners, Sherry's Jewelers and at Hallmark in the old Laurel shopping center. Also Gwen was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Laurel Fire Department, the Cosmopolitan Club for War Brides and attended the Baptist church of Savage before she became ill.
Preceding her in death was her beloved mother and father, her only brother, Reggie Hayes, her son Michael and grandson Jerry McAdoo.
Gwen is survived by her son Lester and wife Dee, daughter Sandy McAdoo and her husband Steve, son David and wife Julie and daughter-in-law Cathy D. Keys; her grandsons Michael Keys, Tony McAdoo, George and Gene Keys, granddaughter Malena Schmidt and step-granddaughter Dana Hites.
Viewing will be at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, Maryland 20707 on Tuesday October 29, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will take place at the Donaldson Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday 11 AM. Interment Ivy Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to La Casa de Rosa Assisted Living, 8433 Woodward Street, Savage, Md. 20763
