Harold "Joe" Vincent Tarbox

H. V. “Joe” Tarbox, aged 89, of Laurel, MD passed away on January 20, 2023. He was a son of the late Theodore F. and A. Laura Tarbox. Joe was the beloved husband of 63 years to the late Anne M. Tarbox; devoted father to Pam Bertrand and husband Bill, Bobbie Tarbox, and the late Ron Tarbox; cherished grandfather to Steve Bertrand and wife Gabi, and Mike Bertrand, great grandfather to Jheremy, Steve Jr., Lila, and Camille; a loving uncle to niece Leslie Rogers and husband Carl, nephew Paul Jones and wife Joanne; and a beloved brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and great uncle to so many in the Tarbox and McEwen families.

All who knew Joe were struck by his honesty, conviction, kindness, and work ethic. Many of his friends and family sought his counsel. His children and extended family point to Joe as the model of a wise father and husband. All are deeply thankful for the firm Christian foundation he established in his home.

Joe served in the United States Air Force and the Air Force reserves from 1953 through 1961. He worked a few jobs after his discharge from the military and eventually worked for 35 years as an engineer and Vice President of a small technology firm, Digi-Data Corporation. Upon retirement he began playing ice hockey with a senior ice hockey team, the GeriHatricks, and continued playing well into his 80’s.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Anne and Joe Tarbox on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 11 AM at South Columbia Baptist Church located at 8814 Guilford Road, Columbia, MD 21046. Light refreshments will be available immediately following the service.
