Hazel P. Ritter-Pitzer

April 12, 1923 — January 10, 2014

Hazel Polly Ritter-Pitzer, 90, a resident of Ellicott City passed away on January 10, 2014 at Gilchrist Hospice Center. She was born on April 12, 1923 to the late William and Lanta Dickman in West Virginia. She attended Huntington Central High School in Huntington, West Virginia. She enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served in the Korean War. Hazel moved to Laurel in the 1960's and was a resident for almost 40 years. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Laurel and became the first woman Commander in Maryland at the American Legion Post #60 and served 2 terms, 1981-1982. She retired from the U.S. Customs as a management analyst.

In addition to her parents and siblings she was preceded in death by her husband Richard L. Pitzer and son-in-law, Thomas Allshouse, Sr. She is survived by her children Mark Dille and his wife Lynne, Joyce Waddoups and her husband Larry, Kim Yancich and her husband Dave, and Kit Allshouse; grandchildren Mark Adam, Danielle, Stacey, Billie Jo, Ashlei, Lindsey, David II, Broc, Thomas Jr. and Brian; and great-grandchildren Twins Kelpy and Gavin, Billy, Jordan, Kennedy, Jensen, Karsen, and Alex and Dylan.
