Howard E. Tucker, Sr. of Laurel passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Esther O. Tucker. Also surviving are four children Bennie J. Northcraft and husband Scott, Nancy L. Kissner and husband Ed, Patricia A. Rogers and husband Vince, and Howard E. Tucker, Jr. and husband Patrick, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two loving sisters Mary Morris and Nellie Whitted. He is predeceased by his parents Arthur and Agnes Tucker.
He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served with the 24th Div. M.P. Platoon in Japan during World War II, and received the World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal Japan. He was honorably discharged on October 31, 1947.
After being discharged, he returned home and married his childhood sweetheart, Esther(Sis) Steelman. He was vice-president of National Cini Lab where he developed film for practices and NFL games for the Washington Redskins, and came in frequent contact with people such as Sonny Jergenson, Billy Kilmer, Joe Theismann, Joe Gibbs, and then owner Jack Kent Cooke.
After retiring, he enjoyed watching football and black and white westerns on television and spending time with his family.
