Hubert J. Hooks, Jr.

Hubert J. Hooks, 85, of Laurel, MD passed away on January 23, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in 1934 to Hubert J. Hooks, Sr. and Jennie Cecelia Hayden in Washington, DC.

Hugh was a member of St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church in Laurel, MD.

After retiring from Sherwin Williams in 1993, he and his wife traveled across the United States, visited Mexico, Canada and several countries in Europe, and took numerous day trips.

Hugh became interested in finance during his retirement years and enjoyed giving family and friends investment advice.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sophie.  They have been married for almost 65 years.  He is also survived by his three children:  Karen Baker (Donnie), Pam Marciszewski (Tom) and Jim Hooks (Michele); his seven grandchildren:  Michelle O’Brien (Brendan), Justin Marciszewski, Rachel Watts (Rusty), Lindsay Baker (engaged to Matt Aman), Dr. Kristin Marciszewski, Brian Baker and Mark Marciszewski; and his three great grandchildren:  Ella O’Brien, Brody O’Brien and Nathan Watts.  He is also survived by his brother, Henry Wayne Hooks (Donna).

Hugh was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Phillip Jerome Hooks (June).

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 30 at St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church, 114 St. Mary’s Place, Laurel, MD 20707 from 10:30-11:30, followed by a funeral Mass.  Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20906.
