Irvin “Irv” Janet passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28. Irv was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Rose, after 52 years of devoted marriage. He is survived by his sons Paul (Kim), Dan (Karen), Kevin (Lynda), and daughter Maryanne Mento (Jeff). Irv is also survived by his devoted step-son, Jim Gilbride (Dorothy), his sister, Charlotte Domsky (Bernie) of AZ, nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Irv was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 3, 1924 to Israel and Yetta Janet, Lithuanian Jewish immigrants. He served as a Merchant Marine during WWII, and then worked for The Army Corp of Engineers while the Alcan Highway was being built in the Yukon. He also worked at the Labor Department in Washington DC where he met Rose in 1942. For over 50 years, Irv managed Maryland National Memorial Park in Laurel, MD, his final resting place. He and Rose were avid Redskins season ticket holders since 1950. He most enjoyed spending time with Rose in their Ocean City, MD condominium
