James Elmer Dunivin, Jr., affectionately known as “Jim”, died on March 18, 2025. He was 92 years old.
Jim was born on March 12, 1933 to James E. and Dorothy (Higgins) Dunivin and was a 1951 graduate of Arundel High School. Shortly thereafter, Jim enlisted in the United States Navy, was a volunteer with the Jessup Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Masons, and met his loving wife Nancy Adalaide (Lishear) Dunivin, whom he married in 1957. He went on to be a Westinghouse defense contractor until his retirement in 1991.
In his spare time, Jim enjoyed fishing, researching ancestry, collecting old coins, listening to country and bluegrass music, NASCAR, drag races, and working on vehicles; he was especially proud of his first truck purchase, a 1977 Ford F100, which he personally restored himself and still owned. Additionally, he was also proud of the fact that he clocked near 100 MPH in the 2003 season of the White Lightning “Monster Mile” at Dover Speedway, and that he was a member of the team that provided equipment for lunar voyages and the “AWACS” radar system. Additionally, Jim was a member of the Glen Burnie Moose Lodge since 1968.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, James and Dorothy Dunivin; Sisters Phyllis (Dunivin) Terry and Joan (Dunivin) Wilson, and grandson Raymond J. Dunivin II. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nancy Dunivin; Children Raymond J. Dunivin (Diane), Arlene M. Loudermilk, and Gregory A. Dunivin; Grandchildren Barry A. Mitchell (Kristi), Billy P. Mitchell (Brooke), Lindsay N. Dunivin, Danielle R. Petrecca, Terri L. Petrecca, and Britni Loudermilk.
