On Saturday, September 27, 2014, James Lamarr Kennedy passed away at his home in Laurel. Mr. Kennedy was born in Raysal, WV on September 22, 1940 to the late James and Edith Kennedy. He was a US Army veteran and worked for the Department of the Interior for the last 45 years. While in the army, Mr. Kennedy was stationed at Fort Huachuca, in Arizona, and served as a medic. During his time with the Dept. of the Interior, he received several awards within his office of surface mining. Jim was an avid basketball player and played weekly at the Laurel Armory. Mr. Kennedy is survived by his loving wife Mary M. Scott-Kennedy and his sons Marc Kennedy and Sean Kennedy. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, his cousin Carroll Gene Bevins and family and his aunt Carmalee Davis and family. A visitation will be held at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. on Tuesday, September 30, from 7 until 9 pm. Service and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
