On March 19, 2016 of Laurel, Md. Died peacefully at home of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He was 74. Jim was born in Baltimore to Robert S. and Lelia Brennan McCeney. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bobbi, his daughter Margie, his son Robert (Betsy), grandchildren Sean and Maggie, and his brother, George (Natalie).
Jim was an alumnus of Landon School and Washington & Lee University. He began his career in accounting at Price Waterhouse and then joined the Organization of American States, becoming Treasurer and Director of Financial Services and retiring asDirector of the Department of Material Resources 2000. Upon retirement he restored his childhood home in Laurel, and became an active volunteer. At the Laurel Historical Society Jim served as Treasurer, President, and Chairman of the Board. He was also a frequent docent, a member of the Collections Committee and Chair of the Investment Committee. For the City of Laurel he served on the Historic District Commission, the Pension Board of Trustees, the Community Emergency Response Team, and theLaurel Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. He also served on the OAS Staff Federal Credit Union Board of Directors and as a Trustee of the OAS Medical Benefits Trust.
In addition to his love of family and Laurel, Jim had a passion for Bluegrass music and Maryland Basketball, men’s and women’s.
Burial will be private.
