James Byron Winn

James Byron Winn, aged 89, of Laurel, Maryland, passed away on December 10, 2024.

James was born on January 22, 1935 to Lois and Phillip Key Winn in  Ada, Oklahoma. After James graduated Valedictorian from Dexter Highschool in 1953, he went on to study Electrical Engineering at New Mexico State where he graduated with honors in 1958.

In 1958 James began his career at White Sands Missile Range for the Department of Defense as an Engineer.  James would go on to work for NASA, the Department of Transportation, and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority before retiring in 1992.

In 1951, James met Norma Faye Winn at Dexter Highschool, whom he married in 1954. James and Faye went on to have four children, Phillip Allen Winn, Sheri Dawn Manktelow, Richard Larry Winn, and Linda Michelle Ganoe. James is survived by his wife, their four children, eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

James was a member in the University Park Church of Christ where he enjoyed teaching Bible classes.

Services will be held at University Park Church of Christ in Hyattsville, Maryland on December 20, 2024; viewing at 10:00 am, service at 12 pm.
