Jane Stewart

July 29, 1929 — October 20, 2016

Jane Stewart (nee Ardell), a longtime resident of Laurel, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2016 at her home at the age of 87.  She was born July 29, 1929 to the late Clarence and Sara Ardell, in Williamsport, PA.   She was as a homemaker for many years, raising her four beautiful children.  She was a devoted mother and Grammy to her family.

Jane enjoyed her time working at the Card Mart Hallmark store in the Laurel Centre for many years. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Highland, Laurel Senior Friendship Club and Post Cana. Jane was active in her community, loved by so many and enjoyed time spent with family and neighbors. You could often find her sitting on her back porch on sunny days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years Robert P. Stewart; three sisters, Kathryn (Kitty) Calvert, Trudy Chadderdon, Nancy Spooner; and a brother Gus Ardell; several relatives and friends.

Jane is survived by her loving children; Rusty Stewart (Brenda), Judy Cain, Lori Stewart and Cheryl Duke; grandchildren; Sara Belanger (Brent), Brian and Scott Stewart, Marissa, Emily and Alexa Keppley, sister, Sara (Liz) Wise; brothers, Charlie (Janet) and Robert (Carrie) Ardell and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at DONALDSON Funeral Home, P. A., 313 Talbott Ave (Rt. 198 W), Laurel, MD 20707 on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 4-7 pm.with further visitation at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Highland on Friday from 10 am until 11 am at which time a funeral service will held. A luncheon will immediately follow the service in the church’s fellowship hall.
