Janet Marie Sorvelli Alvandi was born in Jamestown NY on May 6th 1957. She was the daughter of Mary and Gerald Sorvelli and had an older brother named Daniel Sorvelli. She received her high school diploma from Jamestown highschool, and received her bachelors of arts degree in psychology from St. Bonaventure College in Olean NY. After graduation she was employed at the St. James Church in Jamestown, as director of religious education, under tutelage of Monsignor Tony Attea. In 1982 Janet and Foad her future husband met while taking courses at the nearby Gannon College in Erie Pennsylvania. They were married on May 18 1984 at St. James Church. A year after getting married they moved to Northern VA, and metropolitan DC area, where she started her work in the field of social services. In 1990 they had their first child, Joshua, and 3 years later, they had their second child Joseph. Janet's last place of employment was in Silver Spring, at an organization called SEEC. She was the "Workforce Development Operations Coordinator" working with developmentally disabled individuals. Janet was a dedicated wife and mother. She was a happy, helpful, perceptive, positive and funny person, and loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband Foad, sons Joshua and Joey, nieces Lisa Sorvelli Hammond, and Julie Sorvelli Abramo and aunt Susan Fiorella . Janet's parents and only sibling Danny had all passed away before her.
