JANET ELAINE GIDDINGS (JULY 18, 1937-DECEMBER 4, 2015)
Janet Elaine Giddings (Lishear), a lifelong Laurel resident and beloved Wife, Mother/Momma,Grandmother/Mammall, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, cousin, and friend passed December 4, 2015 at the age of 78 with her family by her side. She was born July 18, 1937 to the late Vernon and Irene Lishear.
Together with her husband Norman, she raised 5 children and owned a family run trash removal service, Norman E. Giddings and Sons from 1955-1986. She was also the owner of Janet E. Giddings Racing Stables from the mid-70s to mid-80s. Janet was a woman of incredible strength and immeasurable love. She would say her greatest accomplishments were her 5 children, 10 grandchildren, and 4 (soon to be 5 in March) great-grandchildren. She could often be found in her kitchen cooking delicious meals and other goodies for her loved ones who she made sure never went without. Her door was always open. She was also an avid fan of bluegrass music, horse racing, watching wildlife out her kitchen window, the Baltimore Orioles, and game shows.
Janet was preceded in death 3 months earlier by Norman (her husband of over 60 years), her parents Vernon and Irene Lishear, granddaughter Lauren Giddings, brother Warren "Snookie" Lishear, and sister Frances Lee.
She is survived by her 5 children--William and his wife Karen, Robert and his wife Vanessa, Richard and his wife Terry, Deborah and her husband Rod Pinion, and George; her grandchildren--Niki, Christy, Casie, Westley, Kaitlyn and her husband Daniel, Jessica, Sarah, Emmalee, and Hannah; 4 great-grandchildren--Keilana, Nohea, Charles, and William; and siblings--Nancy, Mary Jane, Connie, Gregory, Gloria Jean, and Darlene.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the Chapel at DONALDSON FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD 20707.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at EMMANUEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH 10755 Scaggsville Road, Laurel, MD 20723.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Janet E. Giddings’ name to Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
