Janina Leokadia Hnatyshyn (nee Wojtowicz) 89, of Laurel, Maryland passed peacefully into Eternal life on November 21, 2022.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 29, at 4 p.m. to be followed by a Parastas at 6:30 p.m. at Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, Maryland. The Pohoron (funeral) will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, at Holy Trinity Particular Ukrainian Catholic Church, 16631 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland, followed by internment at St. Andrews Ukrainian Cemetery, 240 Main Street, South Bound Brook, New Jersey 08880.
Janina was born to Anastazja and Stanisław on October 4, 1933, in Borysław, Ukraine. Her family moved to Jarosław, Poland in 1941. After emigrating to The United States of America in 1958, she married Myroslav Hnatyshyn in New York City in 1959. From 1966 to her passing, she made her home in Laurel, Maryland where she and Myroslav, married for 55 years, raised six children in the full traditions of the Ukrainian homeland.
Janina is survived by; her sons, Roman Hnatyshyn of Baltimore, Zenon Hnatyshyn of Laurel, Taras Hnatyshyn and his wife, Dana, of Severna Park, and daughter Catherine and son Hunter; her daughters, Marta Hnatyshyn of Laurel, Irma Lyszyk and her husband, Andriy, of Laurel; Mira Hudson and her husband, Neff, of San Antonio, and two granddaughters, Nina Hudson and Lila Hudson; and a dear brother, Bolesław Wojtowicz and his wife Lucyna; and niece, Monika, in Przemyśl, Poland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janina's name to the Holy Trinity Particular Ukrainian Catholic Church, 16631 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20905.
