Jean Marie Lavin

Jean Marie (Dovell) Lavin, born June 2, 1937, passed away peacefully at home, early in the morning on February 14, 2023.  She and her late husband, James Robert Lavin, Jr., lived in Burtonsville, Maryland, where they raised their four daughters, Sheree (Tony) Norton, Catherine Lavin, Gina Speaks, and Kimberley (Herb) Frye.  Jean loved her family and all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She is survived by her four daughters, their husbands, her five granddaughters, Laura Magers, Ashley (Brown) Chapman, Kacie Norton, Emily (Magers) Wolf, Shannon Speaks; her grandson, Andy Norton; and her six great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Norton, and Travis, Justin, James, Tyler, and Gabrielle Chapman.  She was preceded in death by her beloved grandson Christopher Norton.  She gave all of her life and love to her family.  A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary of the Mills, Laurel, Maryland on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 12:30pm.  Interment will be scheduled at a later date.  There will be no visitation or reception after mass.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to jssa.org/donate to help other families who need help at the end of life’s journey.
