Jeanne Danton Noë, 98, life-long resident of Laurel, passed into Heaven on February 7, 2022 at Lorien Elkridge Nursing Home.

She was born December 14, 1923 in Laurel at her residence on Montgomery Street, daughter of the late H. LePage and Mary Beebe Donaldson.

Jeanne graduated from Laurel High School in 1939 where she played varsity basketball and softball. She went on to attend Boyd School of Commerce before becoming employed at the Agronomy Department of the University of Maryland, the War Department at Fort Meade, and the U.S.D.A. Beltsville Research Center.

She married the late David F. Danton on July 14, 1944 while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Jeanne kept the accounting books for Dave and Bob Barton’s business, the Laurel Sports Center on Main Street.

Jeanne was a wonderful stay-at-home Mom to her two children, Nancy and Bobby. She was a life-long member and oldest living member of the First Baptist Church of Laurel. She was baptized at the age of nine, making her a member for 89 years. She loved teaching children Sunday School. She was a member of the Woman’s Missionary Union. She enjoyed bowling on the church duckpin league and the fellowship of many friends. She loved Big Band music. In 1956 she was appointed Judge of Elections for Prince George County. In 1964 she was appointed by the Mayor of Laurel as a member of the Board of Elections Supervisors.

On December 22, 1961 her beloved husband, Dave, passed away after a stroke. Later, in 1962, she was blessed with a part-time position working for the Clerk Treasure and Mayor and City Council at City Hall in Laurel. This employment became full-time and she so enjoyed her duties and the friends with whom she worked.

Jeanne was a widow for 13 years. Her home was always open to Nancy and Bob’s friends during their school years. She was known as “Jeanne the Queen” with great respect and love by them all. She was second Mom to many.

On January 25, 1975 she married Theodore Hampton Noë of Rome, Georgia. Their families had been friends for years. After their wedding she moved from Laurel to Hampton’s home in Rome. They lived there for seven years before returning to Laurel to care for her Mom, again residing in the home where she was born.

She loved attending Sunday School and worshipping back in her beloved First Baptist Church. She was a current member of the Senior Adult Ministries Class. Jeanne often assisted Hampton doing volunteer work at the Laurel Nursing home. She was a member of the Laurel Senior Friendship Club and looked forward to attending their meetings and lunches to spend time with friends. Jeanne was happy to be living close again to her Mom, siblings, and most of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and dear friends.

She is predeceased by her parents: Page and Mary, as well as both husbands: Dave and Hampton, her sister, Mary Louise Fleming and her husband, Tommy, her brother, Charles Donaldson and his wife, Mary, her sister, Susan Phelps, and son, Richard Noë.

She is survived by her daughter and husband, Nancy and Jimmy Russell of Harrisonburg, VA, son and wife, Bob and Bev Danton of Pasadena, MD, as well as Ted and Ginger Noë of Rome, GA, Kathy Noë of Newport News, VA, and Michael and Faith Noë of St. Cloud, FL.
