Jennie M. Thompson

February 4, 1919 — August 27, 2017

Jennie Marie Thompson, 98, of Highland, MD, died on August 27 at her home after a period of failing health.

She was born February 4, 1919, the daughter of Earnest and Corrie Harper.

Jennie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul C. Thompson, her daughter Corrie Boulay, and her son John Thompson.  She is survived by 5 children, 26 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  Her surviving children are Paul Thompson (Betty), Margaret Leishear (Bill), Jennie Gait (Chuck), Ruth Beltz (Michael), and Jo Ann Geoghan (Pete).

Jennie was active at St. Louis Church in Clarksville, MD for many years as a Eucharistic Minister.  She attended daily Mass well into her 90’s, and she led a group of parishioners in counting the collection and preparing the weekly deposit for St. Louis. She was instrumental in the stand-up of St. Louis’ Divine Mercy Adoration group.  She and her husband Paul donated the Fatima statues on the side of the church facing Route 108.  She and Paul and their whole family were very involved in St. Louis’ annual Clarksville Picnic, where some attendees said that they mainly came for her pickled cucumbers!

Jennie will be missed by all of us who know and love her.
