Jewel Marie Hill, age 84, of Laurel, MD died on July 9, 2012. Born June 11, 1928, in Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Chlotilda (Simmons) and John Keith. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Childers, brother JC Keith and sister Francis Perkins. She lived in Laurel since 1964, was a member of St. Mary's of the Mills Catholic Church and also a member of The Ladies of Charity. She earned her degree as a LPN and worked at The Methodist Hospital in Hattisburg Mississippi, Prince George's County and Laurel Regional Hospitals. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in 1978. She volunteered for many years at Laurel Regional Hospital after her retirement. She loved to travel, visiting many countries in Europe and a trip to Israel. She liked to attend Blob's Park where she was an avid polka dancer and enjoyed meeting friends.

She is survived by her children; Nancy Rust, Ann Colton, son-in-law Jim Colton, Danny C. Childers, daughter-in-law Rheema Childers, Mary Childers, son-in-law Bob Johnson brother Chasie Keith, sisters Ollie DiPietro and June Dennis; She is also survived by six grandchildren Sheryl Hanlon, Steve and Jim Colton, Katie Hait, John Sims, Elizabeth Johnson, 1 great grandchild, Mary Hait, many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Mary of the Mills Catholic Church, 114 St. Mary's Place, Laurel on Saturday, August 11 at 11 a.m. Repass to follow at Laurel Volunteer Fire Department Hall. Interment private.
