Joanne Reitz Blackstock

Joanne Reitz Blackstock, 92, of Laurel MD passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at University of Maryland Laurel Regional Medical Center.
She was born in 1925 to Joseph and Rhoda (Henderson) Reitz in Indianola, PA.
Joanne was an active member of the Laurel Presbyterian Church, joining in 1968. She graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in home economics. She was a member of the Omicron Nu Society, which is an honary society of home economics organization. Joanne also was a graduate of Pensylvania State University and earned her Masters degree in Communicative Disorders from John Hopkin’s University. Joanne taught home economics in Pittsburgh PA for a short time and volunteered as a substitute teacher in Maryland. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and traveling to Colorado to visit her son and her brother.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Clarence “Blackie” Blackstock of Laurel, MD; two sons, Kent Blackstock, Golden CO.; Dean Blackstock, Laurel, MD; two grandsons, and a brother.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be on Friday December 15, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Ave, Laurel, MD 20707.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday December 16, 2017 at Laurel Presbyterian Church, 7610 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, MD 20707.
Burial will be private.
