John F. Mccabe

John Francis McCabe, age 82, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the Cherry Lane Nursing Center in Laurel, MD. John resided in Laurel for over 54 years.

John was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. At the age of 20 John entered into the U.S. Army and served in Korea. While in the military John was sought out and used his knowledge of the Morse code. After leaving the Army, John returned to New York City and took a job with RCA. Because of his work while in the Army, John was recruited to work for the Federal Government as a computer programmer. John retired from the Federal Government in 1990.

During his retirement years, John enjoyed taking vacations with his family.

Mr. McCabe was the beloved father of Eleanor M. Coffman, Maryann Adams, Mark McCabe and Thomas J. McCabe, loving grandfather of Ashley Beckstead, Michael Beckstead, Heather Cooke, Jeremy Adams and Parker McCabe. Also survived by 3 great grandchildren and his close friends and neighbors Mrs. Jo Saunders and Mr. & Mrs. Robert McDonnell. Mr. McCabe was preceded in death by wife, Elizabeth Irene Kennedy McCabe.

A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 in the Chapel of the DONALDSON FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD 20707 beginning at 7:00 PM
