John Shaw

November 6, 1926 — October 6, 2013

John Shaw, 86, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Gilchrist Hospice of Howard County. He was born on November 6, 1926 in Mansfield, Missouri to the late John and Nora Shaw. He came to Laurel, MD as a young teen in 1940. He held memberships at First Baptist Church of Savage and Hope Baptist Church where he loved the Lord and served others. He enjoyed fishing, travel, golf, woodworking, and cars. He especially loved to fix cars whether they were his, his family's, or friends'. He is described by all as a very patient man. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in France and Germany. He worked as a mechanic at Mid-City Chevrolet in Laurel and retired from Johns Hopkins University APL after 32 years as a stationary engineer and draftsman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother T.M. Shaw. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Dorothy J. Shaw; daughter Linda Ousborne and her husband Doug; grandchildren Mike Green and his wife Sarah, and Matt Ousborne; great-grandchildren Ashley, John, Emily, and Grace. He is also survived by many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
