John J Starzec Jr.

John Joseph Starzec, Jr. was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He passed away peacefully on June 26th at the age of 83.

John was born on May 2, 1940 in Larksville, Pennsylvania. An Army veteran and longtime resident of West Laurel, MD, John was married to his wife Maryanne for more than 60 years. They were married in 1962 in Larksville, PA and went on to have seven children.

A devoted family man, John was an avid golfer and longtime member at Argyle Country Club. A successful businessman, he worked for UNIVAC and then went on to found his own company, SBD Computer Services Corporation, which he ran with his partners for several decades. John, called “Pop” by his grandkids, was a member of St. Mary of the Mills Parish and enjoyed reading, spending time with neighbors at the beach in Ocean City and playing the drums. He loved listening to and singing polkas and was very proud of his Polish roots.

He is predeceased by his mother Mildred Starzec, father John Joseph Starzec, Sr, and his son, John Joseph Starzec III.

John is survived by his loving wife Maryanne; his sister Rosemarie Kachinko; his six children Joann Moe (Brian), Suzann Tom (Barry), Lori Orta, Jay Starzec (Patti), Matthew Starzec (Kelly) and Marci Whalen (Brian); his twelve grandchildren Alexandra Flowers (Derek), Kersten Doherty (Mark), Ryan Tom, David Orta, Sofia Orta, Lucas Orta, Scott Moe, Brady Starzec, James Starzec, Madeline Starzec, Cooper Whalen, and Dylan Whalen; And two great-grandchildren Abigail and Devin Flowers.
