John F. Teehan Teehan

John F. Teehan, III

John Teehan, age 63, died on Thursday, January 12, at the University of Maryland Medical Center after a six-month long hospitalization following complications with the heart transplant that he received on December 24, 2010.

Mr. Teehan was born on February 14, 1948 in Keene, New Hampshire. The family moved to Hawaii in 1957 where his father Jack Teehan worked as a reporter/photographer for the Honolulu Star Bulletin. Embracing his new home, Mr. Teehan became an avid surfer and ukulele player. In 1962 the family moved to Washington, DC where his father worked as the press secretary for Senator Daniel Inouye. Mr. Teehan was a United States Senate Page for the Democratic Senators. He graduated from Capital Page School in 1966.

Mr. Teehan enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1967. He received the IMJIN Scout Insignia for commendable participation in operational missions along the Demilitarized Zone, Korea in May 1968 during the Pueblo crisis and he also participated in the interment services for General Dwight D. Eisenhower in April 1969. He was honorably discharged in 1970.

Mr. Teehan was a Senior Field Technician with General Dynamics working out of NSA. He previously worked as a Security Specialist with the General Accounting Office in Washington, DC.

Mr. Teehan was a member of the Old Glory Harley-Davidson Laurel Chapter, rode in the Memorial Day Rolling Thunder Tributes and participated in the Harley-Davidson honor flight escorts for returning military members.

Mr. Teehan is survived by his wife of 42 years, Anne and his four sons; Kristopher, Scott, Michael and James. He is also survived by his brother, Dennis.
