Joseph F. Iannaconi of Laurel, Maryland, formerly of Berkeley Township, passed away on Monday July 7, 2014 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD.
Born in Hoboken, NJ he lived in Jersey City before moving to Berkeley Township in 1985.
He was in Sales Purchasing with Sherwatt Company in New York City, NY for many years.
Mr. Iannaconi proudly served in the US Navy during WW II for which he received the Distinguished Service Award.
He was a member of the Italian American Hall of Fame and VFW Post 10185 for which he was quartermaster from 1999 to 2000.
During his retirement Mr. Iannaconi spent a number of years coaching handicapped children participating in Special Olympics, was an honorary citizen of Boys Town and received a Certificate of Appreciation from the St. Joseph's Indian School.
He was predeceased by his wife Grace in 1996.
Surviving are his two sons, Perry and his wife Terry of Laurel, MD., Joseph Iannaconi, Jr. and his wife Geri of Palisades Park, NJ, six grandchildren Amy Luycx of Parrish Florida, Angela Peerman Of Bowie Maryland, Perry F. Iannaconi, Jr. of Baltimore, MD., Jennifer Iannaconi of Springfield, Massachusetts , Emily Fernandez of Edison, NJ, and Liz Iannaconi of Palisades Park, NJ, six great grandchildren; Rosemary, Matthew and Jimmy Luycx, Cerri and Daniel Peerman and Joey Fernandez, and one great-great grandson Nicholas Luycx.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 7pm until 9pm at Donaldson Funeral Home in Laurel, Maryland and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Laurel, Md. at 11AM on Monday, July 14, 2014. The family will also receive friends on Thursday July 17, 2014 from 10am until a 12 Noon Service at The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals 145 St. Catherine Blvd. Toms River, NJ. Burial will follow at New Jersey Veteran Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. Condolences may be sent to
