Joseph M. Izzo

August 17, 1927 — April 4, 2020

Laurel

Joseph M. Izzo, a resident of Laurel, Md., went to join his beloved wife, Beverley, in their heavenly home, on April 4th.  Dad will be dearly missed by his children: Michael Izzo (Lisa Sommers), Joanne Hanyok, Larry Izzo, (Cathleen), and Son-in-law, Patrick May.  Gramps   will also be lovingly remembered by 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Joe (Big Joe) (Uncle Joe), will  be fondly remembered by his brothers: Frank Izzo (Barbara), Anthony Izzo (Joanne), Melvin Rostek (Colleen), Joe Rostek (Patricia), and a sister Nanci Lawson (Jim), many nieces, nephews, cousins, and of course, many, many wonderful friends, especially the caring neighbors of Lilac Park Community in Laurel Md.  Joe was preceded in death,  also, by his sister, Gerri, (Cliff) Hangarter, a daughter, Loretta May, and his son-in-law, Patrick Hanyok.

Joe was born and raised in Baltimore Md. to the late Vincent Izzo and the late Beatrice (Urnise) Rostek.  That is where he met and married the love of his life, Beverley (Baxter), and started their 60 year adventure together.  From Baltimore to Washington, D.C., to Greenbelt, Md.(where they spent 30 years raising their family), to Takoma Park (living with their son, Mike) and then to Laurel, (where they spent the remainder of their lives). Joe was a fun-loving, kind, compassionate, and generous person.  Family meant everything to him, and we all felt his unconditional love whenever we visited.  He was also very outgoing and made friends wherever he went.  This was evident at his 90th birthday party, when we HAD TO rent a church hall to fit his BIG Italian family, AND ALL  his loving friends.  A GREAT time was had by all who attended.  Now Joe & Beverley’s LOVE STORY continues in heaven.  Dad, God took a little piece of ALL of our hearts when He called you home, BUT your heart is whole, now, because you are with Mom.  Thank You, both, for ALL the LOVE you gave us throughout your life.  Rest in Peace;  I know God is saying “Well Done my good and faithful servant”

A graveside service was held, by the family, on April 13 at Meadowridge Cemetery.  Due to current conditions services were private, but a CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at a later date.
