Joyce A. Stanley

March 24, 1940 — November 3, 2016

Joyce Stanley, age 76, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 3, after a long journey battling Alzheimer’s. She was the second & youngest daughter born to parents Vernon and Mamie Lucas on March 24th 1940 in Huntington, West Virginia.

As a child, she enjoyed fishing & camping trips to Canada with her family. She played sports and was cheerleader for both her junior and high schools.

Joy worked various jobs over her lifetime, but loved the job as wife, mother, and grandmother most of all. She was a lovingly devoted mother to her children, to all her family always, and was always concerned for their well-being. She was probably most proud, however, of her titles of Mom-Mom and Na-Na.

She loved music, cooking, and spending time with family, especially at special occasions and on holidays. She was famous for her green beans, biscuits & gravy, peanut butter fudge, turkey cookies at Thanksgiving, and other great tasting things only she could make.

She will be forever remembered for her kind & loving heart, a glowing smile when she saw you, and known for putting others’ needs above her own.

She was predeceased in death by her sister Delores Leannarda.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Billy Gene Stanley, brother-in-law Frank Leannarda, Cheryl Turner (half-sister), Pat Hardesty (half-sister), Larry  Lucas (half-brother), Bonnie Bearden (half-sister), Brenda Sweeney (half-sister), children Chris & Jane Blevins (son & daughter- in-law), Lisa & Jeff Sine (daughter & son-in-law), David & Beth Stanley (son & daughter-in-law), five grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Connor, Paige, and Ryan. Plus nephew Craig Dillion and niece Christy Elliott.

Interment will be immediately after the service at Meadowridge Cemetery located at:  7250 Washington Blvd Elkridge, MD  21075

Friends are invited for fellowship and to celebrate her life, after the ceremony, at her daughter Lisa’s house at:  8588 Stonehouse Drive, Ellicott City 21043.
