Joyce Virginia Weir

On January 27, 2026, we lost our loving mother Joyce Weir of Laurel Maryland. She was born in Washington DC on September 23, 1930. 

She worked for many years for the Navy Department as a civilian Secretary, first in DC, then Naval Ordinance Lab and the Harry Diamond Lab before retiring. During retirement she remained busy, helping to establish what is now the Laurel Senior Friendship Club. She managed to travel with friends and family over the years. Joyce was an avid cat lover, she also loved to crochet, providing her granddaughters with crocheted clothes for their dolls! 

She was preceded in death by her parents Doris (Clubb) & Thomas Greene, her husband Chalmers Jr. Weir and a Great-grandson. Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter Deborah (Frank Dorbert) and sons C. Gregory Weir (AnnRae) and Jonathan Weir; Grandchildren Frank Dorbert III, Joel Weir, Robin Walton, Sherri Mosley and Lee Dorbert and their spouses; Great grandchildren Holden Dorbert, Reed Weir, Sloane Dorbert, Hayes Mosley and Leia Mosley. Joyce lead a productive life in her 95 years and will be missed greatly. Her beloved cats Alex and Sophie already miss her. 

Interment will be at Cedar Hill on February 18, 2026, services will be private. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
