Judy Esther (Hollander) Phillips

Judith Esther Phillips, (née Hollander), 88, of Laurel, Maryland died December 15, 2023 in Mt. Airy, Maryland.

Judy was born in The Bronx NY in 1935 to her parents Daniel and Ella Hollander. She had one sibling, her beloved sister Irene Lindgren, who preceded her in death in 2017.

She graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in The Bronx in 1953. Shortly after that, she met her future husband Charles Phillips, whom she married in 1955. In 1967, they moved to Laurel, Maryland where they lived with their 4 children, Susan, Kim, Douglas and Glenn.

Judy was a homemaker and also worked at Hecht’s and Hallmark when her children had grown and left home. Judy loved being around people.

Judy’s beloved husband Charles passed away in 2003, as well as her oldest son Douglas in 2008.

For the last 10 years Judy lived at Park View at Emerson in Laurel and maintained a very active lifestyle until her recent short illness.

Judy is survived by her beloved children Susan Schmitt (husband George), Kim Phillips (partner Steve Gwinn) and Glenn Phillips (wife Sabrina Phillips), as well as six grandchildren Drew Phillips (wife Emily), Jordan Phillips (wife Leslie), Jake Phillips (wife Ellie), Trey Schmitt, Kate Schmitt and Parker Phillips. Judy also had 3 great-grandchildren Elsie Phillips, Pax Phillips and Hank Phillips.

A memorial service is planned for spring 2024.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society.
