Karen M. Passmore, 63, a long-time resident of the Laurel area, died early Saturday morning, the 2nd of April.
She was born in 1953 at Fort Meade, MD, the daughter of James McFarland and Constance North and was raised in Ohio. Kim received a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition from Miami University in Ohio, thereafter working in various hospitals until becoming a nutritionist for Kaiser Permanente where she worked until 2015.
In 1981, Kim was married to Joseph Passmore in Philadelphia, PA. They moved to Laurel in 1984 for an employment opportunity.
Kim was a wonderful witness for Christ and a vibrant part of the community, an active organizer for her children’s childhood groups, the West Laurel Recreation council, and the West Laurel Swim Club. She and her husband were regular members of Grace Community Church.
She is survived by her husband Joseph, her children Phillip, Bryan, Chris, Jeffrey, Meredith, granddaughter Kyleigh and her parents James and Joyce McFarland and Constance North.
A visitation will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home in Laurel, MD between four and seven pm on Thursday 7 April. Funeral services will be held at Grace Community Church in Fulton, MD, on Friday the 8th of April at noon, followed by a burial ceremony at Union Cemetery in Burtonsville, MD.
