KATHRYN BLYTHE BLACKMON

Suddenly, on Thursday, February 24, Kathryn Blythe Blackmon (née Sorensen) died peacefully at her home in Maryland City, MD.  A lifelong resident of Maryland, Kathy is descended from several old State families, including the Bealls, Harpers, and Hopkins.  She was 67 years old.

Kathy was a warm and life-loving woman, with a flare for singing, a joy for children, and a terrific sense of humor.  She enjoyed family, music (especially MoTown), reading, swimming, embroidery, Scouting, watching Tennis, the Orioles, and the Washington Commanders (although she had some doubts about their new name).  When her children were young, you could always find her on the sidelines rooting for their teams.  If a friend or neighbor needed help, she pitched in to provide whatever resource was necessary.  She was loved and will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her husband of 47+ years, Charles; her two sons Michael and Timothy (Ashley); her daughter Mary-Kathryn Beech (Nick); her sisters, Mary Lou Fahey and Christine Granke; her sister-in-law Jeannie Adams (Charlie). her nieces Teresa Bever (Tom) and Cassie Adams; and numerous grand nieces and nephews.

In addition to the Friday services at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A., a celebration of life will take place on Saturday March 12th at the Elks Lodge in Laurel 8261 Brock Bridge Rd Laurel, MD 20724 from 1pm-5pm.
