Kathryn S. Nichols
February 29, 1928 — September 25, 2016
Kathryn “Kitty” Nichols, formerly of Laurel, passed away at her residence in Florida on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from COPD and Congestive Heart Failure. She was 88. She was born February 29, 1928 to the late William and Margaret Stevens. She graduated from Laurel High School in 1945. She worked for C&P Telephone Company in Baltimore and the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge. She later went to work for the PG County Police at the Hyattsville Station as a Clerical Technician and retired from that position in 1978 under a visual disability retirement. In 2012, Kitty moved to Oldsmar, Florida with her daughter Donna and grandson Steward.
She loved her family and truly enjoyed writing Poetry. She received acknowledgement from President Gerald Ford for a poem she submitted for our Nation’s Bicentennial celebration. In addition, she submitted several others which were read over the WBAL Radio Station over the Holiday Season.
Kitty is survived by her loving children Donna and Steven Nichols; 5 cherished grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
