Kelly Coon, Sr.
August 13, 1938 — August 17, 2015
Kelly Coon, Sr., a lifelong Laurel resident passed away on August 17, 2015 at his home. He was 77. He was born on August 13, 1938 to the late William and Mildred Coon. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard USS Shenandoah. He retired from both Greenhorn and O’Mara as a Surveyor and from Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab as a Security Officer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Savage. Kelly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings William and Harry Coon, and Bonnie Coon. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Myrtle Coon; sons Kelly Coon, Jr. and his wife Gloria, and Rodney Coon and his wife Selena; sister Kathy Cheak and her husband Jim; grandchildren Robert and Andrew Barry, Melissa McCann, Noah, Dawson, Meleah, and Maddux Coon; and great-grandchildren Payton and Liam McCann.
