Kenneth Dewitt Alcorn

Peacefully on October 16, 2017, Kenneth DeWitt Alcorn, age 64, of Laurel, Maryland passed away with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Bethesda, Maryland on August 15, 1953, to Anne and Newell Alcorn.

He was a resident of Laurel all his life.  Kenny was known for his kind heart, good nature, loyal friendship, generosity, sense of humor and always offered a helping hand to friends and strangers alike.  His family and friends will miss these traits he never lost during his declining health.

After attending Laurel High School Kenny worked at Laurel Dodge, RRS and then opened his own company, Ken’s Welding. He was a member of the American Legion (Sons of The American Legion), Elks and Moose Lodges. He enjoyed classic western movies, sketching, restoring cars, and of course, spending time with Sophie, their Yorkshire Terrier.

Kenny is survived by his wife Janet Peake (together 45 years), mother Anne Hall of Savage, Maryland, sister Lee Anne Marcum of Florida, a step sister, sister and brother-in-law’s, nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.

The family will receive friends at Donaldson Funeral Home, 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, Maryland 20707 Thursday, October 19, 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  A service at the Donaldson Funeral Home Chapel will be Friday, October 20 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will follow at Columbia Memorial Cemetery, 12005 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, Maryland 21029.
