Kenneth E. Butler

September 10, 1949 — March 23, 2018

Kenneth Earl Butler was born on September 10, 1949 in Lorain, Ohio to David Butler, Sr. and Katie Catherine Price. His journey ended on March 23, 2018.  He met and married Elvira Carol Hicks May 2, 1981.

Kenney honorably served as a Private in the United States Army in Viet Nam 1969- 1970.  Service awards - Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Bronze Star and Bronze Star Attachment Double, Combat Infantry Man Badge First Award, Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Ribbon.

Kenney graduated Central State University in 1978 with BS in Marketing. He retired from the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D. C. after 20 years.

He enjoyed his family and loved taking care of his grandchildren.  Family holidays were special times for him.  He was a diehard Cleveland Browns fans.

He leaves to cherish his life, Wife, Carol.  Mother-in-law, Clouis Hicks. Daughter, Kyiah (Tim) Gill, Laurel, MD; Sons, Jerry “Tony” Hicks, Laurel, MD, Shawn (Chiquita) Hicks, Waldorf, MD, Darnell Butler, Laurel, MD,.  Brother, David Lee Jr. Tucker, GA, Sisters, Linda (David) Collins Hampton, GA, Yvonne Ross, New York, Shirley (Joseph Jr.) Moore, Denise Gill both of Lithonia, GA and sister in law Shirley Morefield Butler, Columbus, Ohio. Brother in law Gentle Hicks, Jr., Sister in law Brenda (Robert) Hicks, Dayton, Ohio.

He will also be missed by seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild who knew him as Pop-Pops.

He was preceded in death by his grandson Jerry Hicks, Jr. parents David and Katie Butler and two brothers, Johnnie Louis Butler Sr. and Darnell Ray Butler.
