Later in life, Kenney became a respected contractor, eventually retiring after successfully operating his own contracting business for over 20 years. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life as a proud member of the Masonic Fraternity, reflecting his values of brotherhood, leadership, and community.

He loved relaxing with classic western television shows and movies, a pastime that reflected his appreciation for history and storytelling. He also enjoyed going on car rides, especially when he was the one behind the wheel.
