Kenneth D. Underwood

Kenneth Underwood, age 87, passed away in Glen Burnie, MD on Friday, June 24, 2022.

Born October 28 in Ronceverte, West Virginia, son of Samuel H and Eva May Underwood. He lived in Laurel, Maryland and worked for the Public Defender's Office in Washington, DC until retiring in the early 2000s. Kenneth spent 29 years in the military and was a proud bronze star recipient. He made regular contributions to St. Joseph’s Indian School for many years, enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, tending to his many pets and garden, and staying abreast of current affairs.

Kenneth is survived by his two daughters, Jeanie and Karen, and four granddaughters, Asya, Jade, Ava, and Laila. Kenneth was preceded in death by his brother Charles Underwood and his sister Sandra Smith.

A graveside service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. A private burial will also take place in his hometown.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Kenneth Underwood to the Humane Society of Prince George’s county.
