Larry Thomas Foster

July 18, 1944 — September 27, 2022

Laurel

Larry Thomas Foster, a loving father, grandfather, friend, uncle, and husband, departed this life on September 27 at Adventist Medical Center surrounded by family. Larry was born on July 18, 1944 to Mamie Carter and Thomas Foster (upon Mamie's death Larry was adopted by Cora Brown). Larry attended public school in Washington, DC and began working at an early age. Larry worked at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland for many years and also worked part-time at Sam's. He later started his own car cleaning and detail business. In his younger years, Larry met and married Annie Jones and became the stepfather to her son. They went on to have a daughter in this union which was his only biological child. Larry doted over his daughter and would make sure everyone knew he had a daughter and wanted everyone to meet and talk to her everywhere they went. Larry's favorite line was "here's my daughter! Say hi to my daughter!". Larry became a licensed minister in the early 80’s and dedicated his life to evangelizing the gospel, praying for others, and helping anyone in need. Larry had a range of things he enjoyed doing that included talking to people, traveling, reading the word of God, spending time with his grandkids, learning, praying and almost anything that allowed him to help others. In 1985, Larry married Hazel Fonville and they remained married until her passing in 2017. Larry and Hazel lived in Northwest DC for many years until relocating to Laurel, Maryland in 2000. Larry and Hazel were very active in the community, volunteering and helping in several churches. They became members of First United Methodist Church and remained members until their passing. They were devoted to their roles as servants. If you met Larry you would quickly learn that he loved good food, his favorite color was red, he loved suits and hats but most of all he loved the Lord. He was very well versed on a number of subjects so talking to anyone about anything came easy. He was affectionately known as “everybody’s granddad/grandpa”. Larry lived a life of integrity; gratitude and it gave him great pleasure to teach the Bible. Larry is predeceased by his wife Hazel, he is survived by his daughter Monique Foster, stepdaughter Nia Foster, stepson Stephen Foster, grandsons Anthony and Landon Foster, granddaughters Aneisha Foster, Felicia Foster (Mark Harrison), Toni Foster and Lakita Green, six great-grandchildren, his sister Sheila Webster, two nieces Tasha and Nikki and a host of other relatives, friends and "bonus" grandchildren.
