Laura Staples Escobar

Laura Staples Escobar, 64, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. Laura was born on May 12,1957 in Monterey, Mexico, to Laura Rodriguez Staples and Bradbury Clayton Staples Jr., the second of 5 children.  Laura emigrated, with her family, to the United States in 1967.

Laura attended Takoma Academy in Takoma Park, Maryland, and graduated in 1977. Upon graduation she joined the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.  She fulfilled her mission trip calling by traveling to Lima, Peru from 1982 thru 1984.  Returning to America she met her husband, Moises Escobar, through the church and they were wed on June 13, 1987.   Their union was blessed with a daughter, Kimberly, on August 7, 1993.

Laura was the assistant to the principal at High Point High School for several years and became the school’s registrar from 2017 to the present.  Laura was a loving wife and mother and was a fierce protector of her family. She was a caring and participatory aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She was committed to her church family and found strength through her unwavering faith.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Richard James Staples, and several aunts and uncles. Laura leaves to honor her memory her husband, Moises, her daughter, Kimberly, three sisters, Nancy Salgado and her husband Arturo, Patricia Torano and her husband Anthony Torano, Christina Bromfield and her husband Kenneth Bromfield and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Laura was laid to rest on April 8, 2022 at George Washington Cemetery, 9500 Ridge Road, Adelphi, Maryland.

The family wishes to thank the many relatives and friends who continue to support them through this time of grief and sorrow.
