We celebrate the remarkable life and lasting legacy of Leeroy Fredericks, who peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on September 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 84. He was born on April 26, 1941, in Buxton, Guyana, to Elzaida Barry and Simon Fredericks, and later became a longtime resident of Queens, New York. He lived a life filled with purpose, love, and faith.
Leeroy attended Roman Catholic School in Guyana, where he developed the strong values that guided him throughout his life. He proudly served his homeland as a land surveyor for the Guyana government, contributing to his country's development with skill and integrity.
In the 1970s, Leeroy migrated to the United States. His strong work ethic and determination led him to success in various roles before finding his calling in healthcare, where he made a meaningful difference in people’s lives until his retirement in 2014.
Faith was the cornerstone of his life. As a devoted member of The Brooklyn Tabernacle Church, he was known for his quiet spirit and willingness to pray with anyone in need. His presence was a source of comfort and godly counsel.
Leeroy cherished his 30-year friendship with Carolyn, which led to marriage in 2013. Their home was filled with prayers, love, and shared devotion. He loved visiting his children, celebrating holidays and birthdays, and sharing treasured stories with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed Caribbean cruises, especially the buffet and peaceful moments at sea.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Fredericks; his three children by his former wife, Patricia Rogers: Allison and her husband, Keith Thomas, Roger and his wife, Demeka Fredericks, and Raul Fredericks; his siblings, Bernadine Kerrutt-Long and Joseph Fredericks; his nine grandchildren, Mikhail, Aleyah, Renee, Roger Jr., Jasmine, Nikel, Alexandria, Angelina, and Carrington; and his great-grandchildren, Christien, Nicholas, Alexandria (A.J.), Riley, and Raelyn. He is also survived by extended family, his church family, and friends whose lives were deeply influenced by his faith and wisdom.
We are forever grateful for having Leeroy as part of our lives. He was a man of deep faith, devoted love for family, and a quiet strength that will remain in our hearts.
