Leona Frances Atkins

Leona “Lee” Frances Atkins, age 89, of Laurel, MD passed away peacefully on May 31, 2022 at Northwest Hospital with her daughter and granddaughter by her side.

Lee was born on December 2, 1932 to parents: Luther Winford Blevins and Pantha Marie [Minton] Blevins.

She enjoyed bowling and playing the guitar, watching the Redskins and Orioles and spending time with her family. Above all she loved God; she was a member of Hope Baptist Church.

She was married to the late William Atkins for 61 years until he passed away in January 2008.

Lee is survived by her five children: Edna Hamlet, Billy Atkins, Steven Atkins, Bobby Atkins and Michelle Atkins; 14 grandchildren: Nancy Piteleski, Laurie Heil, Chucky Hamlet, Jessica Wiegmann, Cindy Atkins, Krissy Atkins, Melanie Atkins, Dionna Perky, Jared Perky, Brad Grimes, Shelley Atkins, Kyle Wren, Colin Atkins and Elyssa Atkins; 21 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, William Atkins; grandsons: Keith Atkins and Stevie and granddaughter, Holly Atkins; 6 brothers; and 3 sisters;.
