Leonard Gilbert Bookhultz Sr.

Leonard Gilbert “ Bookie “ Bookhultz, 90 of Laurel Md passed away July 07, 2026 surrounded by his family after recovery complications from heart surgery. Bookie was born in Baltimore MD to George G. Bookhutlz and Ruth Bookhultz ( Knox ).

He married Joyce Elaine Hall on December 8, 1956, and they resided in Laurel, MD. Bookie retired from Academy Ford in 2008 after being employed 50+ years and served in the National Guard. Bookie enjoyed car racing, soccer, coffee, crossword puzzles and local sports, although his greatest passion was his life with Joyce and all his family and friends.

Bookie was preceded in death by his parents George and Ruth Bookhultz, Brothers Lewis and Lawrence Bookhultz, sisters Claire Wollering and Charlotte Tipton, his sons Leonard Bookhultz Jr, and wife Anita,Wayne Bookhultz and grandsons Robert Bookhultz Jr. and Kenneth Ammon II. He is survived by his wife Joyce Bookhultz, brother Leroy Bookhultz and wife Mary Kay, son Robert Bookhultz Sr. and wife Marlene, daughter Terri Bloom ( Bookultz) and husband Jeff, son Jeffrey Bookhultz, grandchildren Cali, Danielle, Haley, Hannah Sophia, Alex and Amber plus many great grandchildren and numerous family members.

Visitation will be held on Thursday July 16, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by service at 11:00 am at the Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A.,  313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD, 20707. Interment will follow at Meadowridge Memorial Park 7250 Washington Blvd Elkridge, MD 21075.
