Lester A. Tayman, 85, of Fulton, MD died Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community in Quarryville, Pennsylvania. He was born October 10, 1926 in Nottingham, Prince George's County, Maryland to the late William M. and Mary Jane Bryant Tayman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years Mary Julia Tayman; his brother Vollie Tayman and sister Effie Smith.
He is survived by his loving daughter Martha T. Gibbs and her husband Donald of Kirkwood, PA; grandson Ashley Brandon Gibbs of Hersey, PA and his sister-in-law Mildred Moore of Quarryville, PA. He is also survived by 7 nieces and 9 nephews.
He was a WWII Army veteran, 1st Air Division Boat Detachment. He retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Beltsville, MD after 30 years. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fulton, MD.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 10-1 pm at DONALDSON FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 313 Talbott Avenue, Laurel, MD. Funeral services will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 11795 Route 216, Fulton, MD with Rev. Rod Ronneberg officiating . Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
