Lillian Jeanette Hairfield, 83, of Burtonsville, Maryland, peacefully went to be with the Lord the evening of May 12, 2024.

Born to James Barton Musgrove and Lillian Jeanette Stephens on April 28, 1941, in Takoma Park, Maryland.  Lillian spent the entirety of her years between Fairland and Burtonsville getting to know much of the community through teaching, and as a Sunday school teacher.

Lillian's greatest joy was raising her three children and keeping a lovely home.  You could always find her in the garden, preparing crafts for children, or reading a good book.  What she loved most was gathering with friends and family, telling stories and sharing a laugh.

Lillian is survived by her husband, William Edward Hairfield, Sr.; her brother Robert Musgrove; her sister Laura (Brush) Bresnahan; her children William (Millie) Hairfield, Jr., Laura (Robert) Nicholls, and Julie Newton; her grandchildren Wendi (Jeremy) Herod, Daniel Hairfield, Andrea (Bruce) Punte, Tyler Ulsch, Alyssa Newton, and Paige Newton; and her great-grandchildren Everly Punte, Delilah Dillon, Jackson Herod, and Nova Punte.

Viewings will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home, P.A. in Laurel, MD, on May 28 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Liberty Grove Methodist Church in Burtonsville, MD, on June 9 from 2:30-4:30 pm.

Children held a special place in our mother's heart.  She was not only "MomMom" to her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but to many children throughout the years.

In lieu of flowers, we are remembering Mom/MomMom with a children's book collection.  Please consider bringing a new children's book to visitation where a collection table will be set up.  C4 Closet is an organization that our Mom spoke highly of and donated to for many years.  It would please us to gift them with new books in memory of our mother.

For those unable to attend visitation hours, the family welcomes donations to St Jude's Children's Hospital in MomMom's memory.
