Lois L. Bertot, 64, of Glen Burnie, died October 29th, 2013. Lois was born January 12th, 1949 in Oakland, CA.
Lois was a loving and devoted wife to Edward for forty-six years. She was a professional florist, as well as a talented and gifted artist. She specialized in Ikebana floral design, and was highly sought after to create exclusive pieces. Lois was totally dedicated to her four children and numerous other "adopted" children. In recent years she became a devoted and adored Nana to her six grandchildren, and took great pride in home schooling two of them. During a four year tour in Misawa, Japan, (1980-1984), she served as the Area Director for Girl Scouts of America and was one of the principal organizers of the first-annual trip to Tokyo Disneyland in 1981. Lois loved the theatre and the performing arts. She directed children's theatre, which offered opportunities for military dependants to express themselves creatively. She had an amazing "green thumb" and created beautiful gardens everywhere she lived. Lois was chosen as the Navy's Military Spouse of the Year in 1981, and received similar accolades from the U.S. Air Force. Lois was an extraordinary, spiritual woman who will be forever missed by all who knew her.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents Zeff Lazarus and Lola Collete Lazarus, as well as by her son Edward F. Bertot Jr.
Lois is survived by her husband, Edward F. Bertot; her daughters Melissa Jacobs of Bloomington, IN, Miechelle Bertot Galloway of Baltimore, MD, and Meredith Wood of Burtonsville, MD. Lois is also survived by six beloved grandchildren, Sebastian Jacobs, Louis and Lorenzo Galloway, Anthony Grant, Oliver and Elijah Wood, and her fearless cat, Jack.
We love you more than the moon, and the sun, and the stars, and the sky, and the whole wide world... .that's right!
